personally, I do not like braided line. I tried it when it first come out. I seem to fight it the first two times I fished with it and the third trip I had mono back in the reel. I just put fluorocarbin on a couple of reels. I can wait to try it. I put it on my flippen stick and worm rod. I'll let you know how it goes.

love it and i think most will agree with powerpro here... i use 20 lb. power pro and has not steered me wrong yet... it seems like it has bout a 30-35lb test breaking strength... you WILL like it...

i use 12/50 and 16/65 powerpro on baitcasters.it helps prevent line digging into the spool and your lures also run the same depth they would with mono.

I wouldn't go with less that 50 lb on a baitcaster. PowerPro 50 lb has the same diameter as 12 lb mono which is a great line size for a baitcaster. I've heard reports of 30 lb breaking on the hookset, but never the 50 lb+.

personaly they both have there applications.I like to use 50# powerpro for all flipping and pitching applications most of the time and I like to use 20# fireline for spinnerbaits. I like to use 10# mono for all my superflukein and weightless worm applications, Its all a matter of what you like.

for those who have or have seen 30lbs breaking on a hookset, it had to of either been frayed line or a bad knot. I've broken rods (yes you've read that correctly, rods as in more than one) on 20lbs power pro.

I'm with ya buddy on this one. Got to be a bad knot or frayed line or as stated a toothy critter. I have more than my own testimony standing in a corner to be repaired. Slam a 2 or 3lb bass with a 1/2oz. jig on 50 or 65lb braid be it powerpro or any other and due to the NO STRETCH of the line you will find out how good your equipment is. One word of caution when using braid and I do use it alot and have switched to PowerPro and wont use anything else. Set your drag somewhat looser than what you have it set for mono. You do one of those rock a 19ft boat hooksets on a bass with your drag locked down you will find out what I mean.

again it is the 30# yes 30# not 20# not 10# or even the 50# it is the 30# and no it was not a toothy critter or frayed line or even a bad Knot the line was in perfect condition cuz i checked it right out of the box and it was numerous fish around 5 or 6 that broke off right on the hookset and yes i thought ya mabe it was bad line so i got another box and the same thing happend i broke off more fish so i stopped using the 30, the 30 is probably the only test that is affected. I have tried diff. Knots too palamor, trilene, and one other knot that was the best braid line i ever used.

Ill tell you somthin else i love the 50 and 65# powerpro i still use it for pitchin and flippin just not the 30#

Lunker Hunter

Did ya contact the company. I feel like they would have replaced the spools or given a refund to keep up the good name. You may have found a bad batch then since you say it was more than 1 fish. I havent tried 30lb so this is speculation.

was it power pro or some other type of braid? I've literally hooked fish hard enough to pull them out of the water on the hookset and send them flying a good 15-20 feet, talk about trying to get a lot of slack up REAL QUICK.

When I use braid, I use 20 pound power pro, and I have never once broke it. I've pulled in logs, chunks of wood from docks, all kinds of stuff, and it's never broke. Even on Ande 12 pound mono, I've caught 8 foot cypress logs. Line breakage mostly occurs because of an improper drag setting.

Nope, I do not. I caught it in a pond I used to fish. I was fishing with a crankbait, and it was partially submerged, and it snagged two hooks on each treble about halfway up the log. After about five minutes of pulling at "strategic" angles, it came off the bottom, and then it glided in pretty nicely. This pond didn't have much structure, and bass loved this log so we put it back out using poles and ropes.
