KalimanMX, welcome to the forum!

Always glad to see another Texan on the board.

Choke Canyon is a great lake to fish. It has both size and numbers. It is my favorite place to fish. Last 4th of July weekend I caught a 6, two 4s, a 3, a 2, and a bunch of smaller ones. I'm hoping to get down there Saturday-waiting to hear if my back seater can go.

If you are fishing from the bank just up IH-10 in Boerne they dammed the creek and it has some good numbers and a few big ones. Diverse, too-last time I fished it I caught 2 LM, 1 SM, and one spot.

Just NW of Boerne is Boerne City Lake. Real clear with good numbers.

I have to go with Reb on Choke. Great fishing. Another plus is no skiers or jet skis. Stumps and alligators do wonders for detering that kind of nonsense. It is about 1 1/2 hours south of town off of 37.

Just south of there is Lake Mathis (or Corpus Christi). I haven't spent a lot of time there, but I hear that it is a great summer lake, with fishing improving as it gets hotter.

To the north is Canyon lake. Despite my post in the Fishing Reports board, it isn't a bad fishing lake. It is close to town and isn't too crowded if you fish during the week. Avoid it on the weekends, though.

Some people may try to send you towards Braunig or Calaveras on the south side of town off of 37. You can try it if you like, but I won't fish either one.

Well I think I'd just grab a rod and some baits, head over to the river walk, and sit out one of the outdoor bars, drinking a cold one, and throwing the line in. Make sure you're on the edge though, otherwise, while fighting them bigguns, someone might trip over your line Plus you could eat some appetizers and throw a few to the fish for chumming

Yeah, I am, Nitro-going to head for Canyon at 6-would rather go to Choke but can't due to time constraints and then have some other plans in the afternoon. We need to hook up and hit Choke!

I was looking at the post above mine by Lizards about fishing at the river walk and drinking beer under one of the umbrellas.

Of course I could do Choke, too. I will be there in 3 weeks as a tournament director. Monday_tuesday tournament.

By the way, Reb. Monday I found a whole lot of places on Canyon to not catch fish. I hope you do better than I did.
