Whats the best type and size hook to use, when fishing
with minnows?

Id say circle hooks, they set the hook on the fish so you dont have and when the bass inhales the minnow, it wont swallow the hook.

As for size it relative to the size of bait you are using

minnows as in live right? depends on the size, if its small, just a small 1/o live bait hook. if its a larger minnow, a circle hook 8)

when i use shiners, anywhere from 2 inch to 5 inch, i put a BB shot between 6 and 12 inches above a gold number 6 eagle claw short shank hook. hook the minnow thru the lips and cast to cover. the minnow starts to drag the shot and makes it look like it's struggling. the rig is good for smallies, buckets, and even pike. i always use UL equipment and 4 - 6 pound line when fishing minnows. playing a 30+ inch St. Lawrence Pike on UL gear without a leader is great fun. (sry i got away from the bass topic) :-[ :-X :-X
