Interesting Material and Storage Tip for Rigs
Went to Hobby Lobby and bought some Pony Bead Lacing from Pepperell Mills. Â*Comes in eight colors including black, chartreuse yellow, hot pink and glow in the dark. Â*Been making live bait rigs by snelling a Â*hook on 17 lb test line, sliding Â*a Â*two inch piece onto the line and then snelling the second hook. Â*Been using the glow material so far. Â*Will work excellently for deep water bass and walleye rigged with two minnows or one nightcrawler per rig. Â*
This glow material emits a soft glow and will be excellent for fishing as reportedly some glow materials work too well and the brighter glow may actually spook some fish. Have been tying lizard jigs with estaz bodies and using the black lacing materials for tails and legs. Â*Also have tied a couple ants with black material and adding a little hackle around the waist. Storage for the live bait and for walleye rigs.......take a piece of fun noodle about a foot long.....stick the hooks in and wrap the rig around the noodle close to the hooks as you come around each time.....when nearing the end, slit the noodle with a razor or knife and tuck in the harness loop entirely into the slit. Â*When you want to use a certain rig, undo Â*the hooks first and unwrap....the loop will pop out at the end of the pull and nothing will be tangled. Â* You can also carry sinkers for the rigs by cutting out a small, but deep X in one end of the noodle Â*and pushing a film canester into the snug hole with some silicone to lock it in. Â*Leave enough of the canaster exposed to be able to easily remove the cap when needed. |
