farm pond advice
i see that alot of people here say that they fish small ponds or farm ponds. We'll i have found some lures that have worked well for me last year around this time.
1. a wieghtless t-rig black power worm 2.A rooster tail, fished on ultralight 3.a mini king spinerbait, on ultralight 4.a senko or tiki stik 5.Power Craw or Kreature bait i fished all of these baits on a 4ft 6inch ultralight walmart pole. These baits really did produce for me and a friend. If anyone else has information to put on this thread please do, as it can be a reference to all. |

Re: farm pond advice
I love farm ponds! Ultra-light is the key word, here is my list of go to baits (I know they work because I slayed them yesterday ;D):
1. Weighless texas rigged worm (black, purple, chartreuse) 2. Rebel ultra-light crawfish crankbait 3. Rebel ultra-light big ant crankbait 4. Strike King mini spinnerbait ( regular and bleeding series) also like Bluefox big crappie spin 5. Any in-line spinner (roostertail, mepps,Bluefox) 6. Rattletrap 1/8 oz. (any color) 7. any kind of non ultra-light topwater, pop-r, devil horse, skitterpop Thats my list I hope it helps anyone looking to start fishing farm ponds. I have found that the smaller the bait the more success you'll have. Kybasser |

Re: farm pond advice
My experience is that any lure will work in ponds that work in lakes and any lure can be used from shore that can be used from a boat.
I assume you're satisfied with your results, but I think I would lack confidence in my ability to get a good hookset with a short UL rod. |

Re: farm pond advice
Try this, it has been a super producer for me. Texas Rigged Zoom 4" C-Tail in Electric Blue or Pumpkin rigged with a 1 or 1/0 Hook. I perfer the 1 size because it does kill the action of the worm. If you can't get your hands of the C-Tail try the same rig using a 4.5" Culprit worm in Red Shad.

i have never fished one, want to tho. i will maybe fish a golf coarse pond this weekend(same thing right?) any ways i would try bigger baits, just to be creative. i also think red shad 4.5'' culprits are good.

Sliders are DEADLY in farm ponds and are perfect for light and UL rigs.

Awww......I thought you were going to say a chrome-plated whiz bang ;D.
Don't disregard the heavier tackle-I hauled an 8 out of a little bitty tank about the size of the end zone on a football field. |

Re: farm pond advice
Hula, the pond I fish gave up its' biggest to a red shad culprit, 6lbs. Not to me though. My best so far 4lb. on a senko.

Re: farm pond advice
Been having good luck of late with a wacky-rigged Trick worm in the stock tanks I have been fishing. Watermelon/red flake.

Re: farm pond advice
NOTE: In the event that the pond has alot of big bass in it, use a bait that big bass like.
I fish a pond that is known for it's large bass. Due to the fact that this pond is private, and they don't allow just any one to fish it, I still managed to get permission. Actually the owners are friends ! I throw "regular" size baits. I.E. 7"-10" worms, regular size buzzbaits, normal crankbaits. Small bass will hit these but your chances are greatly improved at getting a hit from a better size fish. Granted, don't get me wrong a big bass will hit a small bait. |

Re: farm pond advice
My favorite farmpond baits are a culprit tomato worm and a junebug/chart tail lizard. Those will be well enough to blister your thumb on a Saturday.
