Favorite bait for Carolina Rig.
The title asks the question. I used the carolina rig a little bit last year. I a couple of different baits. I used the zoom centipede and the Yum zellamander. I like the zellamander better than the centipede, probably because I caught fish on the zelamander and didn't on the centipede. What are you favorite baits to carolina rig?

Re: Favorite bait for Carolina Rig.
I've had my best luck using a baby brush hog. I've also done pretty well with a Strike King tube lizard.

Brushhogs, tubes, Hoodaddys, sweet beavers, 10 power worms, lizards, flukes, any type of plastic seems to work out here.

kshort29, Hoodaddy's are a creature type bait made by Gene Larue. I think that's how you spell his name.

Re: Favorite bait for Carolina Rig.
KShort, Let me know what you find out. I personally haven't fished a carolina rig enough to have confidence in it. I do have a freind that uses it for smallmouth bass and does quite well at times with it but I do not know when those times are. Anyway I watched him catch alot on a 5" Zoom green pumpkin lizard, and the baby brush hogs over the last few years.I have got to learn it myself. P N J

Re: Favorite bait for Carolina Rig.
I might have to try the brush hog. I seen a couple of people say that the use them. I will let you know how it works out PNJ! By the way, has anyone ever used the carolina keeper when carolina rigging? The concept looks good, it would keep you from retying everytime you might want to change the length of the leader. I have never used them, just looking for some info on these. Let me know. Thank you.

Re: Favorite bait for Carolina Rig.
KSHORT,
Woo Daves swears by them. I don't know if it is because he actually uses them or because he sells them. UNCLE LIZ, They are a round barrel looking thing with a slit thru the center. You squeeze them with pliers and run your line thru them up to the length you want it, len let off on the pliers. It will keep your weight from sliding down and allow you to adjust the length of your leader by squeezing it with pliers and moving it. I personally don't like them because they have the blunt end and catch on debris. I prefer to use a rubber "Peg-It" to hold my sinker in place, and I can slide it up or down the line without pliers. Thanks JackL, I know what they are now. I just buy the premade c-rig's in different wieghts, and retie my new leader to it. I use your method, as what I call a veriation of the split shot. Just I always picture clicking sounds (beads, brass) with a c-rig.

Re: Favorite bait for Carolina Rig.
Have used Senko's as bait on a C-Rig. They catch quality fish.
I've caught bass up to 7 1/2 lbs on this technique. |

They are good for c-rigging along with the Snapback brand. They both float very well, there by giving them a advantage on a c-rig IMO. I have several bags, of Snapback, and a couple of the 3X. The biggest downfall is that they are extremely sticky. Spraying them with lots of scent helps. I'm going to try to spray some Reel Magic on a couple and see how that affects them. Got the idea from earthworm, and I believe bassboss who spray their jig skirts with it. Might as well try it on the 3X and Snapback. Lizards |

Re: Favorite bait for Carolina Rig.
I have been using the 3X baits, too. I like that they float. I still haven't gotten used to the way they feel though. Almost too stretchy. And be careful which scent you spray on them, they get real sticky.
