***Day One Classic Spoiler***
Okay, like I said I was working. I don't have the leaderboard, because that constantly changed (expect for number 1). So here they are, listed by appearence along with thier day one totals.
Jimmy Mize 6lbs. 2oz David Walker 13oz Zell Rowland 3lbs. 10oz Ron Shuffield 13oz Cliff Pace 3lbs. 13oz Dave Palmer 0lbs. 0oz Aaron Martens 5lbs. 1oz Mike Reynolds 0lbs. 0oz Chris Baumgardner 1lbs. RICK CLUNN 0lbs. 0oz Skeet Reese 4lbs. 10oz Tim Horton 4lbs. 7oz Gerald Swindle 3lbs. 8oz Stacey King 5lbs. 1oz (on 3 fish) Takahiro Omori 1lbs. 1oz Jeff Reynolds 3lbs. 15oz George Cochran 3lbs. 3oz Andre Moore 3lbs. 10oz Ed Cowan 13oz David Wolak 1lbs. 13oz Gerry Joosta 0lbs. 0oz Dean Rojas 1lbs. 0oz Marty Stone 0lbs. 15oz Greg Gutierrez 2lbs. 2oz Jay Yelas 0lbs. 0oz Edwin Evers 3lbs. 10oz Mike Iaoconelli 4lbs. 7oz Scott Rook 2lbs. 15oz Gary Klein 3lbs. 3oz Jami Frolick 0lbs. 0oz Jeff Hager 2lbs. 4oz Davy Hite 1lbs. 2oz Kevin Wirth 1lbs. 7oz Ish Monroe 0lbs. 0oz Greg Hackney 0lbs. 0oz John Crews 0lbs. 0oz Tommy Biffle 3lbs. 13oz Kevin Van Dam 4lbs. 11oz Preston Clark 4lbs. 14oz Chad Morgenthaler 2lbs. 3oz Luke Clausen 2lbs. 0oz Jeff Kriet 1lbs. 3oz Bradley Stringer 3lbs. 4oz Mark Tucker 2lbs. 1oz Brian Snowden 0lbs. 0oz Terry Scroggins 3lbs. 3oz Larry Nixon 1lbs. 7oz. Stacey King was your big bass winner for Day One with a 3lbs. 2oz bass. Jimmy Mize was the first angler to be weighted and stayed in first place through out the day. Mike Iaoconelli came out wearing a Pirates Ballcap, a Penguins jersey, and waving a Terrible Towl. During the intro (I'm not sure if this will be shown on ESPN), they did a Star Wars theme. It showed Darth Vader fishing and driving a bass boat. He then took off his helmet and it was Ike who then screamed, "I'm your daddy. I'M YOUR DADDY. I'M YOUR DADDY!" When the event started, Ray Scott came out and said he selected Pittsburgh PA because he wanted a tough place for the anglers to fish. I think this place may be too tough for them and I doubt I'll ever see another B.A.S.S. tournment on the 3 Rivers because of it. Now, I know the big fish are in there. I've caught my fair share of bass in that river over 3 pounds. Maybe it's because I'm a local boy and I know the holes better then the pro's, but they're embarrassing my town on national TV. They did a big spot on Rick Clunn being named the best angler ever right before he came out with NO FISH. It's just day one, and I know a large fish or 2 could turn the entire field around tomorrow. If Rick Clunn comes out again without any fish, I'll know for a fact that Ray Scott will forever look down apon Pittsburgh as a financial black hole.

I do hope some real fish show up. I know that the south is blessed with fisheries full of big bass but there has got to be some 3 to 6 pounders in there. That should be especially true of the brown fish. How deep are these pools? I wonder if they are fishing deep enough to catch the big smallmouth. Right now we are fishing 25 to 30 feet deep to catch keeper SM ( a keeper is 18 inches here). The thermocline is at 32 feet. All the film footage they showed was shallow fishing with the exception of the one west coast guy. He was finese fishing deeper. He also had a limit.
Give us the low down from a local stand point, Where should they be? How deep and what type presentation? One comment I heard was about current. That is a given on the river run lakes here or in the rivers. In fact when the dams are not creating current at some lakes the bass just dont feed. How much do you guys react to current when you are on the water? Fish2win

That is the weight for each angler on the first day of the Classic.
How would I fish differently from the pro's? Now, we didn't get many video's of what the pro's were doing, but all of the video's we saw were from the Alleghany River. I live along the Mon Valley, so I'd be fishing the Mon. I know I've always had luck fishing the Lock's. I'd toss a heavy plastic skirted jig at the base of the waterfall and let it sink to the bottom. The bass like to hang out there because the flow keeps that part of the river the coolest, provides ample protection from heat and sunlight, and food floats over the locks and gets sucked to the bottom. If the jig wasn't working for me, I'd switch to a lipless Rattle Trap and fish parrallel to the falls. Mike Ioaconelli had the right idea fishing with a finesse crankbait, his spot is just in the wrong place. I've had success fishing from shore at the Locke #3 Power Dam in Varrona, PA doing just this. Not a single angler fished this dam today, and I know it's within legal waters. But like I said, I'm just a local boy who knows these waters better then the pro's.

Thanks E, So the current and deeper water are key factors. It will be interesting to see if anyone keys in on that. keep us updated. Fish2win

Think of it this way, if you took the top 20 bassfishin.com wanna be pros, put them in this tourney with the pros - there would be a good chance that one of us would have stuck a 3 or 4 pounder and been right in there, maybe leading.

a few of us would just have to be up there in the standings. a monkey with a note in its mouth could do that good i would think. its tough to say what it would be like though.
