Paca Craws, why?
Not sure if this is the right area for this post but I have a question. I've never used a Paca Craw as I have not found any in my area and my BP catalog does not have them either. I am curious about something though. I know there are many fans of Paca Craws in these forums. I'm wondering why? I've seen many similar craw bait trailers and had success with most of them. Why the fandom for Paca Craws? What makes them different?

Some days they are the best thing since sliced bread and other days they suck.I have found especially good where there is water current.I don't know what makes them so good, but once you have one of those good days, you will be hooked on them for life. P N J

Ditto to Pnj! They have an action like no other craw bait.

And a good second to it (alot easier to find) is the ZOOM Vibracraw. Very similar in shape and action and a tad bit cheaper too.

Bassintom does a great mimic of the Paca Craw as it flutters down rotflmao. Seriously he does a great one. Just stick your arms up, and flap them opposite of each other and that's what it does. Good water movement, good action. It's a bait that only needs a hook. I also like a bullet sinker pegged to go with it. They are as PNJ stated a good river bait, ond a great stained water bait, but I've caught a few hawgs in superclear water also LOL. Work well as a trailer for a jig also. I even have caught a couple using them as a buzzbait/horny toad type bait on the retrieve. Very versatile IMO.

Keithdog,
One reason some of us are such huge fans of them, other than the fact that they work, is that the guy that introduced us to them, lakeguide larry, used to post quite a bit here. You won't find a nicer guy anywhere. And I'm not just saying that because he would send us freebies.

Just got my 2007 BP catalog and found the add for the Paca Craws. That is a tempting description. I'm definately gonna give them a try. Those pig paddle claws gotta have some great action. Thanks for the info. Happy New Years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Green pumpkin rules, also use the red shad. I use them w/ a sinker pegged about 6" above it. (thanks Lizzie) Other than that tie a 4/0 or 5/0 hook and let it go. Swim it, top water it, dead stick it, bob it. Have just plain caught fish on it. Hell, I caught a 5 lber while picking out a birds nest.

Green Pumpkin is alright, but I don't use it any more. 2 colors I primarily use Summer craw and for slightly stained water Okeechobee Craw. Basically they are still green pumpkin with a color accent to them. P N J

I am going on my 3rd year using them and they are about all I fish! I do 80% of my fishing at night and there is no better bait. A hook, 1/4 ounce or heavier sinker and a big ole tube rattle and I'm set for the night!!
