Default gps

i use a garmin etrex legend unit. with the recreational lakes software. using the hot spots east coast v5 version. the nice thing about this is i don't have to unlock any thing and can use any compatable garmin system with on it. i also using punched paper i can print out any track on any lake in the system. i am quite annoyed that they don't have a contour map for badin lake. but they do have it for some of the lakes i do fish regularly.

what do you have for a gps unit and what type of software do you use.

I have a Magellan Meridian Marine that I bought when I was doing a lot of saltwater fishing. The coastal info is much better than the freshwater info, but it is a pretty good unit.

My GPS unit is the trees along the bank. ;D

I can't afford a GPS, so I just remember where everything is once I find it by making a mental note of what trees, or other types of land markers are around.

booger i was that way for a while but when it gets foggy or is pitch dark. and can't see your hand in front of your face. i power up my lil unit and just go.
also it helps me keep track of were the fish are biting.

those of you who know me know i have no fear what so ever of running wide open acrossed a lake in pitch darkness.

I know what you mean Zooker. There have been nights that I wish I had a GPS to tell me when I am getting close to the bank instead of finding out the hard way and just smacking into it.
