This fish fought great on the 4 wt, and he jumped once! It was in prespawn. I hope I can keep these nice fish coming. I caught a 4 1/2 pound largemouth on spin last weekend (check the mini report thread) , a 5 pound largemouth on spin on Friday (check the 3/9 report), and a 4 pound 7 ounce peacock today! Last week (not including today because it is Sunday) I caught 62 largemouth and peacock!
I have a new favorite shirt! A lot of nicer fish have come while I have been wearing this shirt fro some reason. I have been finding the peacock schooled up. Most of the fish will not eat an artificial, and that's if you can find them. The largemouth are scattered, and a lot of them are spawning. I haven't seen many beds, but I have seen a few with babies and the bigger ones have had bellies that look to be full of eggs. 4 pounds 7 ounces ![]() ![]() |

Just the males that are getting ready to or have spawned have that on their head. Unlike largemouth, male peacock are larger than female peacock.

I don't think that anyone know exactly what they are used for, but it is believed that somehow the fry feed from it. Peacock bass grow it in anticipation of spawning.
