Forestry scores first and feel the massive power of his first kitty over twenty pounds. I guess this one at about 32 pounds.. Scale was wacky and was reading all kinds of weights..Black Salty was the bait.
A smaller one comes to the boat. A move due to tide and bam we score again big. Poor Ski and no big fish yet then the rod bends over and Ski joins the 32 lb club. OK then Forest comes back with a 42 lber So big it did not fit in the picture..So I tried again. We burped Ski's big cat but it would not go down and floundered on the surface for while. We pulled lines and anchors ran it down and burped again and still it would no go down. So we chased it down and burped it again. Now it swam away just fine. Total lbs was about 200 I would guess. Capt,
Explain burping to someone who has never fished cats! Is it exactly what it sounds like, how do you do it? Last edited by brushhog; 03-26-07 at 04:24 PM. |

![]() Quote:
Place fish on side or belly. Side is easiest/safest and insert tube gently down the gullet. A 1/2 inch rubber/PVC tubing about 14 inches long . Sand the edges on PVC so it does not cut going down the gullet. Place hand above belly and press down gently as to not crush the fish. If tube is in right spot air will escape. If not reposition tube and try again. It takes a try or two but it will save many kittys from floundering and drowning. Capt Mike
