I was just starting to get a pretty decent bite on in the lakes I fish, and then bam here comes the massive cold front, totally shutting off my bite. Not only that, but I'm taking a Weather and Climate class at WIU and the professor said that the cold will probably continue past next weekend as well. Man I sure was enjoying the warm weather!

You guys aren't alone. The forecast for tomorrow is an 80% chance of rain and a high near 50 with 15-25 MPH north winds and a low of 35. Now, that doesn't sound too bad, but keep in mind I'm in south Texas. VERY unusual for this time of year.

I remember last February (2006) I was at a local lake fishing. This is a bit hard to take. Bob

Where I am sitting, I can look out my front bay window and see the snow falling and the ground is white. This seems to happen every year around here. I hate it. But I remember a fishing trip I made once to cast from shore at a local lake. It had been snowing off and on all day and the temps had been cold for a few days previously. I made a cast and retrieve the lure through a laydown surrounded with weeds. A nice 6 pounder smashed my bait and made my day. That was the only catch of the day for me. Point is, this time of year, weather like this will slow things down, but it is still worth the time to give it a shot. You just might be pleasantly surprised.

It was so cold here this morning I saw a dog jump starting a rabbit.... It was so cold here I saw a squirell rubbing his nuts just to stay warm..... I went fishing yesterday and it took me two hours to chip a hole in the ice big enough to launch my boat.............. |

I like it I left last monday for a week or more of golfing with the temps around the prespawn temps 55 ish. This front pushed it back down again. Now I am home, and can probably catch the best time of year So im pumped |

Last week it was 85 and we were just starting to see fish on the beds. Yesterday was cold and today I wake up to almost 6" of snow! I'm in TEXAS for gods sake!! Hopefully the fish will be itchin' to spawn as bad as I want them too and they'll be on the beds next week. Geez! Jolly

I mentioned on another post that I was getting skunked on a small pond when the weather was nice, and then went after two days of freezing temps and nailed bass on X-raps and Carolina-rigged lizards. I thought it was pretty bizarre. Withrop Harbor is right on the border of Wisconsin and blocks from Lake Michigan. I was so happy to get them to bite in those conditions.
