anybody else think a popper is a popper is a popper? I don't have much of a preference but there is little action from the popper. the fish just sees ripples.

Default Buzzbait

In the waters ive fished ive always caught much bigger fish more consistantly on a buzzbait than a popper. I normally use rebel pop-rs or similar lure.

I actually just did a study on poppers. I found that the rapala skitter pop had a slight difference in it's lip design from other companies. The color and size really didn't seem to matter. Something about the water displacement that came from this bait really turned the fish on. I tested over one hunded poppers in various sizes and colors on ten lakes varying in size, depth, and water clarity and the skitter pop came out on top.

IMO, you can't go wrong with the Scum Frog Popper. I don't know what it is about it, I don't even know if it's a true popper, but I've had more luck with the Scum Frog Popper than any other. Plus, you can use it on top of weeds and moss unlike conventional poppers.

I like hula popper and then I get some popper bodies from a local lure making store, and I put Mustad Triple Grip Trebles on them. the trebles are EWG and red, they look sweet with a black bleeding popper.

Traditional hard-bodied poppers all seem to act the same to me, I have no personal preference and I don't throw them very often.
I mostly fish in weedy ponds where any lures with exposed treble hooks are worthless. I'll have to try the Scum Frogs, they look like they'd work for me.
