winterizing 2 cycle outboard question
If the gas is treated with a fuel stabilizer (seafoam), is it necessary to disconnect the fuel line and run the carbs dry?

And some will tell you no. I used to empty the bowls on my OMC V6. Then somebody convinced me that it's better to leave treated gas in the carbs instead.
That's what I used to do. Now I have an Opti and I will get the manufacturers recommendations and follow them exactly. |

you don't HAVE too but it beats rebuilding the carbs every year.. even treated gas still has water in it. when it freezes it expands every thing around it will give. be it the float, the needle valve,or the hoses..

as long as the sun is not beating on them it wont be much problem.. as most factory gasket jobs are sealed by rv sealant..

Personally I treat the fuel and not disconnect. If there's that much water in the fuel to cause a freeze you definatley have a major problem that needs to be tended to.
