Do you wear gloves?
Here in the frozen north it is the time of year to check gear, buy more stuff and plan our first trips of the "Spring". By spring we really mean as soon as enough ice melts so we can fish!
My question is this, what do you wear for gloves? Last year we alternated between regular winter gloves, way too bulky, and wide receiver football gloves, way too thin! Keep in mind we are talking temps in the thirties with a good dose of wind thrown in!

i carry 2 or 3 dif kinds of gloves for ice fishing and the first ice out. One is a mitten that the 4 fingers are covered, but you can pull them off to tie line or work on gear, they are wool and not waterproof. I have another pair that is water proof neopreen, they are ok but you can sweat in them. The other pair are cotton that the finger tips pull off....nice to alternate all 3 during the day, never go out just with one pair, keep one next to your chest and when your hands get cold/wet you can put on warmer ones.
I dont have any that allow the thumb to be expose, like for baitcasting, so had to learn how to thumb the spool with gloves along time ago. |

I like Cabelas' bowhunting gloves. They're camo, warm, and thin enough for casting. Look at them under the Archery section on Cabela's website; they have many different pairs.

BH, I rarely have to wear them, but when I do I use these:
http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...=SearchResults The thumb and index finger have a slit so you can wear them and still fish. Well worth the investment IMO.

Fellas,
Thanks for the input, Junior, Grampa, and I are hitting Bass Pro in a couple of weeks and gloves will be on the shopping list... Among numerous other things Mrs. Brush is not aware of

I have a pair of neoprene gloves that I use when running. I usually don't wear any when I am fishing.

I've been wearing gloves for 30 years or more when winter fishing and I can fish about as well in gloves as without them. I wear White Mule cotton gloves that fit tight. I carry several pair and if one pair gets wet, I switch to the next pair. They are very cheap and work very well for me. They're just cheapie jersey cotton gloves. Get them tight so you can feel the line and thumb the reel to prevent a backlash on a baitcaster.
