Default Been Thinkin'...

Well, spring is almost here, and I'm now starting to think about my lines. I made a list and for five rods, I figure I didn't do too bad. I weighed out all the pro's/con's, diameters, prices per yard, etc.

Here's what I came up with as of tonight...

Fishing Line – 2008

Spinner Stick – Sufix Elite… 10/12 lb… $7.99/ea.

Finesse Rod – Maxima Fluorocarbon… 8 lb….$13.99/ea.

Cranking Stick – Sufix Elite… 10lb… $7.99/ea.

PNJ/Carolina Rig – Maxima Fluorocarbon… 15 lb… $16.99/ea. and Maxima Fluorocarbon (Leader)… 10lb… $16.99/ea.

Flipping Stick – Sufix Siege… 17 lb… $7.99/ea.

Total ~ $71.94

You Guys been thinkin' as much as I have???

i dont think about the line and prices much. i just go get it when i need it. i always stick with 10 lb on my spinning rod. 17 lb on my flippin stick. 17 lb on my spinnerbait/flippin rod. 12 or 14 on my soon to be crankin rod. i usually get p line, but for the spinning rod i get suffix.

I see that P-Line is cheaper and comes in a larger spool. What is so good about it? I tryed the 100% Fluoroacrbon last year and it curled pretty hard.

Pline is a tough line. CXX is amazing stuff on the casters, and Fluroclear will rock on the spinning rods.

You will save yourself some money if you will get the Vicious Fluoro, about $8 for 250 yards and it is a good line.

Glad i don't have a bunch of rods for bass fishing.

PNJ/Flipping:20-30lb PP
Topwater: 17 lb Stren Mono
Texas Rig rod:15lb P-Line Fluoro
Crankbait rod: 10-12 lb Stren Mono
Finesse rod: 6-8 lb Fluoroclear

Then when I think about it, I've got two Musky rods with Abu's to fill with braid, two with old trolling reel to fill with mono, then steel leaders for all four rods.

Then I've got my cousin's rod (the one I'm going to teach to fish. My hopefully catfish rod for this summer (Catfishing will be new to me) with 20 lb Stren Mono. Then of course, the new rod I want to buy, and my dad's two rods.

Guess I've got more than I though.

i go with mono as well. i mean ol wally world has the shakespere line in 1000 yds spools. i get a 12,17 nd 20 lb test. that way i have plenty for when i make an eagle a nest, lmao. and that happens often. especily when i get a bite and don't set the hook cause i jerk too soon, lol. so hurry and rewind and throw too fast, therefore causeing an eagle nest. and it is cheaper than the braided stuff.

I use shakesphere line as well. But for a few more pennies you can by the cajun. It's a far better line. Not just because it's red either. But i do perfer red mono. Cajun will hold it's self against any mono made & it's cheaper.
