Default which reel?

OK heres my problem, I just won a raffle for a shimano citica and a Woo Davies Extreme 6'6" mh. I love the extreme rod but I would like to have a 5.1:1 reel for deep crankin, the citica is a 6.3:1. Any suggestions on a good med. priced low speed reel likw the KVD Quantum for 2008. Or should I just keep the citica. THANKS

Get a new reel, send me the Citica. Problem solved

Actually, the Bass Pro Extreme reels come in a 5.4:1 ratio. I've heard nothing but good about the Extremes.

That reel works fine for crankin'. Especially if you like to burn baits like me. I have the same one, it kicks!!!

Only worry I would have with the Extreme versus a Citica or Abu is will you be able to get parts in 3-4 years?

I would bet that the Citica would pull very near to the 4.4:1 Fritts reel as far as line retreive. The fritts may have more cranking power, but somehow I doubt that too. The H.E.G. system of Shimano is a powerful bulletproof design.

Don't get wrapped up in the gear ratio. The line retreive per turn of the handle is what you eed to look at as far as crankbait presentation. I hope this makes sense. BTW, I did like the extreme rod, but I gave it away to a friend. Ivan

Ditto. Just bought my first and I'll be getting others as my C3s and C4s wear out.

That should be "IF THEY WEAR OUT"! I have a number of C3s and C4s and they just keep on kicking, Everything is replaceable and easily obtainable. They are simple and straight forward to work on.

I have and LOVE it for throwing a big, deep crank like a DD-22. Cranking a big, deep crank with this reel is not any harder than throwing a Bandit 200 on a high speed reel. I highly recommend it.
