				 | strike king question.....

i just ordered 16 bags of strike king bleeding flipping tubes, eight bags of black and blue/blue tail and eight bags of green pumpkin red and green. both are the same tubes just the colors are different. i noticed that the black and blue was made in the dominican republic and the green pumpkin was made in mexico. anyone know why they do this? i have been hearing a lot of talk about them doing this with their crankbaits as well.

It's cheaper to make them in other countries than it is here in America!

Maybe, one colors is older stock and they've switched locations since those were made. Other than that, I wouldn't have a clue, and I doubt that is what happened. BB

i know a guy that ordered 2 strike king model 5 crankbaits in sexy shad color. both were the exact same bait in the exact same color. one was made in i think mexico and one was made in another country (i can't remember where though). and they didn't look all that much alike.

Most S.K. cranks are painted/made in Costa Rica or Mexico. The Mexico ones have paint jobs that are worth a nickel; the Costs Rican ones are a tad better. -Buzz |

Tired the coffee tubes yet? I got a pack, haven't fished with them yet, but they smell just like coffee. BB

I wasn't impressed with the bleeding tubes, especially the green pumpkin/red tentacled ones. I hope you have better luck with them. About the different countries, how about Rapalas being made all over Europe (mine are mostly Finnish, with a glossy finish, and when the VMC hooks snag I'm finished with that lure ).

C-rig - If you had ordered them from me they'd be guaranteed to be made right here in the good ol' USA (shameless plug!! ). I saw some crankbaits the other day and they sold for $3.99 or $4.99 but were the same bait. I checked out the backs and saw that the cheaper ones were made in China and the more expensive ones here. If you buy Bandit crankbaits you can still get the ones made in Tenn. You just need to know what packaging to look for. Or order them direct from the company and ask for the ones made here. |

C-Rig, just curious about why you chose the Strike King tubes. Is there something about them that you prefer over other makes? I've gotten used to the BPS Tender Tubes and also a few of the Zooms but I'd be willing to try some others, too. I picked up a few bags of Smitty's tubes and they're next for the water bath this weekend.

I had some brown and chartruese KVD Strike Kings and they were great for jigging. Can't find them now or anything that's close enough. I'm already daydreaming about skipping tubes under docks this spring...

i fished table rock yesterday and with all this flooding it was a mess! i spent all day flipping and pitching jigs and tubes into peoples bird baths, picnic tables, swing sets, dog houses you name it, i was literally fishing in peoples back yards. didn't catch a fish either. the water is still a little too cold for there to be a good shallow bit but i couldn't pass up the chance to fish in peoples back yards like that.

. I've only had my website link on my posts for the past two years or so. So what is a "tube guy" ??? Is there a test or some way to find out if I'm one of "them"? Last edited by 3dkicker; 03-29-08 at 10:02 AM. | |

That's it for plastics???? Only three baits....interesting. Keeps things simple. I guess with all those deep diving crankbaits you have you have to keep something simple. C-rig - I use Berkley, Zoom, BPS, Strike King, and Reaction Innovation tubes on top of my own. Each has it's own size and use. Never used a Mizmo or Cabin Creek but they are pretty good too from what I'm told. |

There's a show called Hook and Look on Versus, some of you may have seen, where they fish for a while and then dive with the bass. The big sponsor is Strike King and they had the vice president of marketing on and they were using the coffee tubes for smallmouth. The way they came up with using coffee, he said, was a guy had dumped his last bit of coffee in the lake at the dock and it had grounds in the bottom and he saw sunfish come gobble it up. Just thought I'd share that, I probably won't buy any, they didn't seem so much better than any other tube with scent.
