Default Mattern Guide Service on Sam Rayburn & Palestine

Mattern Guide Service on Sam Rayburn & Palestine

Hello Everybody,

ISAIAH 58: Verses 9:

Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; Thou shalt cry, and He shall say. Here am I. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity.

SAM RAYBURN;

Well it is good to see the killer heat wave over for now. Bass were really slow for about 3 weeks. But now with scattered storms and a little cooler weather from 103 to 90's is cooler to me.

The Bite has been really great. 20-25 Bass per day is common now and the key word is Shad.

Water has been slightly stained on most of the Lake with water temps running about 82-84 degrees. Lots of grass beds everywhere with lots of Bass.

You can really pick your favorite pattern and catch right now. Bass will hit frogs in the thick stuff or spinnerbaits and rattle traps in shad patterns. Also Crankbaits in shad patterns will catch. The shallow bite has been good but some real Giants have been caught 12-15 ft. deep on DD22's and Carolina rigs.

Texas rigged 10 inch worms worked in the pockets produced a 24 lb. sack last saturday in 6-10 ft. grass.

Have a good time and if you do not know the Lake and need a Guide and want to learn some patterns call me at 903-478-2633 or 903-724-1203 or E-mail me at my new E-mail donmat@windstream.net. You can also go to my web-page which is matternguideservice.fghp.com.

LAKE PALESTINE;

WOW; did we get the rain at Lake Palestine. 6 inches plus the run off. Lake is at full pool and the North is real iffy for a good day of Bass fishing. Usually Kickapoo will be running hard and off color for about 5 days so I have not even been there lately.

Mid Lake is in good condition with Bass up to 6 lbs. being caught. Topwater bite is great and like Rayburn Bass are eating the shad. Some schooling action but bigger Bass found on the grass edges and channel edges. Texas rigged creature baits will get you some Big Bass.

Spinnerbaits and shallow running crankbaits are catching also. For a great day of action and get away give me a call and I will book you in. Call me at 903-478-2633. Leave a message if no answer,(I am probably on the Lakes).

Thanks to my sponsors.

Nichols Lures; 903-589-8100

Give David Nichols a Call He is making a 5 inch Flutter Spoon that will tear those Big Bass at Lake Fork Up.

Phantom Tackle; phantomtackle.com

Give Him a call. He has made some of the best Senko type baits I have ever used in my Trade.

Kistler Rods: 281-259-8033

I have never used such rods as Trey Kistlers. They are Light and will not rip the hooks out of those have to have Bass when the money is on the line.

E2baits; E2Baits.com

He has a bait that won some money for us on the tournament trail it looks like a cross btween a senko and a lizard called the bob tail lizard. This bait produced the Big Bass on a Bass n Bucks tournament on Conroe almost 10 lbs.

I fish a whole lot of tournaments and have been so busy lately sorry for no reports for so long.Remwmber Jesus loves you and the devil is a liar.

God bless and remember my sponsors. Don Mattern Sr. with Mattern Guide Service
