Default A Billion

How many zeros in a billion?

This is too true to be funny.

The next time you hear a politician use the
word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of
putting that figure into some perspective in
one of it's releases.

A.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.

D.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E.
A billion dollars ago was only
8 hours and 20 minutes,
at the rate our government
is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain...
let's take a look at New Orleans ..
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

Louisiana Senator,
Mary Landrieu (D)
is presently asking
Congressfor
250BILLION DOLLARS
to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number...
what does it mean?

A.
Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans
(every man, woman, and child)
you each get
$516,528.

B.
Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets
$1,329,787.

C.
Or... if you are a family of four...
your family gets
$2,066,012.

Washington, D.

Here's another way to look at a billion. This was the explanation our trig teacher gave us after no one was shocked at the 700billion the goverment is bailing out companies with.

Your very rich uncle just died, and his is will, it say you have the choice of 1 million or 1 billion dollars. Which would you choose?

(yeah, I chose the billion too.)

Then it says, the only thing you have to do count the money 1 dollar at a time, then it is yours. Now which do you choose? (getting harder, huh?)

Let's say you can count 1 dollar every second (which you can't when you get into the higher number like 750914, 750915, etc.). And say you quit your job and count your money 8 hours every day. Do you know how long it will take you to count your million?

approximately 3 months. I'd give up my job and count money 8 hours a day for 3 months for a million dollars.

Now, given the same stats ($1 per second for 8 hours a day), how long to you think it would take you to count the billion?

94 years.

Kind of puts it in perspective. (by the way, which would you choose now, lol.)

Isn't it weird how the more you work the less you have, but the more you sit on your a$$ (I'm talking to you New Orleans), the more you get...free! Think about it folks these, people didn't have enough since to leave a freakin' hurricane when they lived in a bowl! I bet when KFC and Koolaid heard about the billion dollar plan for New Orleans their stock tripled.
