hahaha i really liked the looks of them (but zooker i like red too and i know how you feel about red). but i read somewhere about a guy who had one on his new stratos evolution and when he was running down the lake it deployed on it's own and ripped the trolling motor off the boat taking a big part of the hull cap with it.

I'm with ya, thumbs down on new design. Thats just what we don't need, something else obstructing our view. In this case "less is better" |

Sometimes people change things just for the sake of change. I have never seen the advantage of the self deploying TM brackets, and I cant understand why Minn Kota and Motorguide brackets and pedals are so damn big. I have a little boat with a little deck, I want a small bracket that is simple and stays out of the way - so I have an OMC bracket, OMC shaft and pedal all rigged to a Minn Kota motor.

I've seen them out on Saint Clair and it just looks like overkill, and ugly. Looks like one of those big stupid wings that they put on ricers. If they were going with aluminum then they should have made the whole thing that way. I fished out of a 2008 Ranger Z520 last weekend and his had the lift assist, wow that was nice. I know that I would like to have that on my next one if possible. |

Looks like an "Erector Set"! I would bet that it is rock solid though.

They went to the aluminum to eliminate the flex & make the mount more ridged as its a one peice design. You can upgrade any maxxum TM mount to accept the lift assist...

This mount is about 20% lighter than the steel mount and is better for you and your boat. The old 101 and 80 with lift as. are still heavy and can crack the cap on the best bass boat.

At least its nice to know there was a reason to make it look like that. Still would look like a second outboard on the front of my boat. Waaay too big.
