I'd expect this from foreign soccer fans, not from American college football fans.

An Escambia County couple died Saturday after an argument over the Alabama/LSU football game ended in shotgun blasts, according to Conecuh County authorities.
District Attorney Tommy Chapman identified the people killed as Dennis and Donna Smith of Appleton Road near Brewton.
The shooting allegedly occurred about 7 p.m. at the home of Michael Williams near the Owassa community in Conecuh County, Chapman said.
Williams was arrested, Chapman said, and charged with two counts of murder.
Dispatchers at the Conecuh County Sheriff's Office declined to comment about the case.
Investigators said witnesses told them that Dennis Smith, an LSU fan, called Williams, a fan of the Crimson Tide, after the game Saturday evening and an argument ensued.
Officers said Donna Smith was a relative of Michael Williams' girlfriend.
Soon, the Smiths arrived at Williams' home and the men wound up in a physical altercation, officers said.
Smith retrieved a pistol from his vehicle, and threatened Williams, who armed himself with a shotgun and fired two blasts, striking and killing Dennis Smith, officers said.
Donna Smith then threatened Williams, who shot and killed the woman, they said.
Investigators said alcohol was believed to have been a factor in the killings, and the investigation was ongoing late Sunday.

I saw that yesterday, Lancer. It is very disturbing that people can get this riled up over a football GAME.
My question is how can Williams, the Alabama fan, be charged with murder when the other guy
1. called him on the phone, then
2. drove to his house, then
3. pulled a gun first?

I'm sorry, but if any one of you jokers gets in an argument with me, then comes to my house with a gun, you're buzzard bait. Does Alabama have the "castle doctrine?" Maybe one of the Albama foks here can answer.

I think the problem is the Bama fan killed 2 people. Were both those people armed? I kinda doubt it. It sounds like it could be self defense in the case of one and murder in the case of the other. You are only getting the Bama guys account cause he is the only one living. Plus, he had a shotgun. He didnt have to shoot the girl in the head or chest, could have wounded her if she was a threat.

Another scenario could be that the female went for the handgun afterwards.

That's my thinking, woody. That's the only justification there could be for shooting her. If all she was doing was yelling or what have you, then yes, that is murder. But if she went to pick up the gun, it's self defense again.

WTL, when you're defending yourself, you don't shoot at somebody's leg or shoulder, or shoot the gun out of their hand like the movies. You shoot for center of mass. Trying to wound somebody is a good way to miss them completely, and get shot yourself. And with a shotgun, it's extremely difficult to wound somebody.

I guess we just don't know enough of the facts yet. The guy could have been within his rights, but I kinda think he went overboard.

It depends on the situation if I had just shot her husband and she started threatening with a handgun in her general area I would of shot her to , it just makes sense that way .

Looks like it was not all based on the game. As of yesterday's reports, there had been other circumstances.

Actually it was the LSU fan that killed 2 Bama fans. My guess is that there is some earlier history between these people. The girl friend of the shooter is related to the woman who was shot.

there is a LOT more to this me thinks as well. the couple were divorced and getting back together? and the girl was related to the other girls kin? it is just that kind of real stupid folks doing what stupid people do in my opion. the game is just a way for the 4 to get together to fight it out. and it got outa hand. and correct me if i am wrong here ok? but bama still doesn't have a self defense law does it? doesn't the "intruder" have to be inside your home and have some sort of wepon before one could shoot to kill? bama's laws are so backward it is hard to keep up, kinda like the bama constitution, too much for the "common" folk to understand.
