				 | 4 days to Florida - what's the bass doing?

Hi there, Only 4 days to go and we'll have crossed the big pond and be in central Florida. We wondered if the fish were feeding up pre-spawn yet or moved into the shallows or what was happening? Any information about ponds in Florida or Georgia with good bank fishing will really be appreciated. If any kind person will share their boat for a day with a couple of Brits, it would be great. Any time up to March 31st in Florida or Georgia. We're serious bass fishers but also like a real good laugh. We'll be happy to supply all the beer and gas Can't wait to get amongst those bass now

Haven't been out in a long while but it's probably too early for pre-spawn due to the cold winter we're havin' down here.

Chris: I'm headed to Disney World with the wife on Tuesday, so I checked the weather report this morning...Highs all next week are 73-76 or so, lows in the 50's... Cold winter? EDIT: For our British brethren, that's Fahrenheit degrees. |

It will seem down right balmy I would say. I stayed on Taft Vineland Drive in Orlando for four days once and fished every day. Mostly the water retainment ponds along the road. Got some quality bass each day.. But I also rented a bass boat on Turkey Lake but a huge storm messed that up. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=...37766&t=h&z=15 Those ponds on the road hold some good fish. Capt Mike

Thanks Capt Mike for that great info. Definitely we'll go there and see what we can tempt on to the hook. We'll report back here if we catch any good 'uns.

I know it's a long time for spawning, but on parts of the St Johns river, I've seen them on beds from the middle of dec through mid may. I love Florida, it is the best place in the US to live for fishing addicts. Except the stinking closed seasons on my second favorite fish, Snook Lizards

I will try to get in touch with one of my friends who is guiding down there and see how it is going and try to get a report for you. I talked to him about a week ago and he said it was a little tough on Toho, they covered a lot of water until they found a decent area that held some fish near shore. If you are thinking about a guided trip let me know and I can give you his and the guy he works with's contact info and websites.

We can't really afford the guiding having spent our money on getting to the US, accommodation and renting a vehicle etc. Thanks for your offer but any other fishing info you can find out and pass on we'd appreciate.

Yeah a cold winter, we've already had some pretty cold, cold snaps especially for this time of year (usually don't occur until Late Jan. to Early Feb.)

Excellent time to visit FL. Bass will be in pre spawn. Waking up from the long winter, wait a minute, no long winter in FL. LoL You'll have excellent weather and allot of water to fish. If you get around orlando, fish the lakes to the south of Disney world. If you get to DC in decent weather, I'd put you on some bass |

Turkey Lake is a good fishing lake. They only allow 5-7 boats on the lake and you have to rent them. Any canal, retention area or boat ramp can produce nice fish. Have fun, good luck.
