				 | what wire connectors

i got my new depth finder installed,i think i done a good job for my first install, but im not real happy with my wire connections.i went to lowes and picked up some straight crimp connectors for 16ga to 22ga,but it didnt seemed to crimp well on the depth finder side, the wire is the smaller wire of the 2.in fact my ground pulled out as i was gettin ready to put cover back on,so i redone it and crimped it as much as i could but im still not realy happy with it.help me out here fellows, what is the BEST connectors for this,i need the name so i can go get em,and i will redo it again,i dont want any problems down the road.

KY, I have found over the years that it is less problems "down the road" if I solder all my wire connections. You can buy very small diameter RESIN core solder and very small soldering irons at Radio Shack that are just made for soldering small wires. This method will keep your connections from pulling out and/or corroding. You can wrap the connections with plastic tape, or use shrink tube or that plastic covering that comes in a tube. JackL

yeah, what he said. soldering connections is always best, but for my boat wires themselves, mine had spade connectors, which helps if you plan to take it off at some point. if not solder it, then get the shrink tube and a good hot hair drier should shrink the tube without having to buy a heat gun.
