				 | Help with speedometer!!!

Ok I was working on my boat saturday to get it ready for this weekend. I am going to a lake that i do not need my outboard, however while i was rewiring everything i noticed that the hose that connects to the speedmometer was laying wrapped up in the battery area. i have not taken it out on the water yet and used the outboard, but i was wondering where does it connect to. I know if you blow into the hose it moves the speedometer. But where does it go?

what kind of out board do you have? It might hook to a pickup at the bottom of the transom. They are plastic and break off so this might be why it is rapped up inside. That pick up is available at any boat dealer I would think or West marine ,or ebay I bet.

if your like me you hate having a gauge on your dash that isnt functional but i finally did away with my speedometer and replaced it with my transducer for my side imaging. the gps is more accurate any way but id like to put a gauge in the spot of my old one that has some kind of function. i just dont know what it would be.

The gauge if it has a name like Livorski or Faria is somewhat more accurate but as Ally stated better off running by GPS. The way a speeedo works is the movement of water pushing against the air in the tube and therefore applying pressure on the speedo movement. VERY poor design but gives a reading around the boats speeds. Zook is pretty dang close with his +/= of 10mph accuracy.

I removed my speedo and installed an old style flasher in it's place. It was hard to find one in stock and a lot of salesmen didn't know what a flasher is. |
