				 | Trolling motor batteries at BPS.

I have a 12 foot jonboat thats powered by a 54 pound thrust transom mounted trolling motor. My current battery which I got from WalMart a few years back needs replaced. It's been a pretty good battery for the cost. Since I bought that battery, our BPS opened up. I was currious what the opinions might be here in the forums regarding the deep cycle batteries for trolling motors at BPS. They have a sale going on now.

I just replaced my trolling motor battery...I got a Optima blue top Marine battery....725 cca...pretty much the same as the Orbital. It cost me $143.00. A little bit more money than an acid filled battery, but the same or more power, better warranty, and no chance of a spill......If you can afford the few extra dollars it will be money well spent...

Keith, I went to Optimas a few years back. Still going strong. Well worth the investment IMO-I got them at Sam's.

Ok, let me continue on this a bit. I found some Optima batteries at Cabellas. They start out at a whopping $189.00 ! Thats a lot of moolah for a battery. Also, i was reading the comments left by people at the Cabelas web site regarding their Optima batteries and most comments were very negative. Not what I expected to read. So not sure what to do. Maybe they would be cheeper at Sams Club. But the comments left by people who have used them at the Cabelas website regarding battery failure of various kinds has me worried about this brand.
