Paddle tail swimbaits!

Does anyone here actually have any real luck with the paddle tail swimbaits, Bastrix or any other? I'm talking about the smaller ones in the 3-5" range! I have yet to catch a Bass on one and have given them a pretty good shot! I actually can catch fish on a fluke just reeled along but not the paddle tails!!!

No, I'm not reeling them too fast either!

I have a couple packs of 5" Yum money minnows and a pack of 3". I haven't fished with them much, but have had some follows on the 5", but no takers. I've only caught one fish on the 3", but again, I haven't fished them much. But I do know some guys who do fairly well around here on custom swimbaits, which resemble the Poor Boy's Silly Rabbit and Silly Bunny swimbaits.

I've caught quite a few bass, as well as numerous other species, on 5" Berkley Hollow Bellies and 6" Basstrix Paddletail Tubes.

They work just fine. I've caught both large& small mouth on them. I like the Money Minnow and of course Basstrix. Keep at it you'll get'em sooner or later

My son catches a ton of bass on the Storm Wild Eye Shiner ones. He just steady reels slow. We also catch stripers on larger ones.

i haven't ever fished any paddle tail worms shorter than 6 inches. mostly.....the paddle tail worm i use is the mann's jelly worm, 6-8 inchers. and i have caught LOTS of bass with them. just my 2 cents worth. oh, colors...grape and watermelon.

Wow! I've got some friends in bama, I talk to 'em on face book a lot, he said it's like 105 there! Could imagine lay asphalt in that heat! Stay hydrated man!

I've had plenty of bites on the swim baits but strike to catch ratio is around 30% which isn't good enough for me. From now on I'll be using braided line only when fishing with them. Haven't used them yet this year.....so far.

My dad has been using the storm wild eye swimbaits to a degree of luck lately , he has mostly gotten smaller bass with them and pickerel but they are catching fish .

Cut a slip in the belly of the bait, this way there's less plastic to have to ball up around to hook! Try it, your hook strike ratio will increase 3 fold!

X2 Smitty. I use the Poor Boy Silly Rabbits and the Optimum Double Diamond. I get a fair amount of hits, but that 30% ratio ain't cuttin it either.
My biggest is a 6 LBer on a Optimum DD golden shiner.
So, after all is said and done, I would add some to your arsenal.

P.S. the bait primate will be satisfied for the time being.

I've got some of the rabbits too but I haven't thrown them yet. Too many baits and too little time this spring to fish them. But all of that will change here shortly........
