Topwater baits for Stipers?

I am a rookie when it comes to trolling for striper. Can any of the veterans voice their bait of choice when trolling for these giants.

dang it bryce and woody. it has been SOOOOO long since i have caught a stripper! and my great uncles would catch em like the pic on smith lake in cullman, al. very good with lemon/butter on the grill. bigguns like that are fantastic steak size fillets.

I've used that lure for bluefish. It works very well - kicks up plenty of commotion while dancing side to side.

Let me just clarify the whole subject:

I have no idea what a stiper is?
I do know what a stripper costs and it aint worth it.
If you fish non -tidal impoundments then call them stripers
If you fish the Chesapeake Bay Proper is refered to as rockfish.
If you fish the tidal rivers they are convict-bass
If you fish the rock jetties of Cape Cod they are Baaassss (New England accent required)

And finally if you fish the west coast they are stripes...

Now that is clear the best two trolling baits on all waters are the long jointed deep diving rapala/storm.



The botton one in crome blue..

And second is the small umbrella.



Both require a hefty rod but they are deadly in all waters for convict-bass

Or whatever you call them..

In the rushing water below Wilson dam this time of year a Zara Spook works wonders. In less turbulent water a swimbait is effective.
