My good deed for the day
Went fishing last night, fished for about an hour, was heading back up the lake to a spot near my dock when I see a boat filled with people 4 adults and 5 kids under the age of 10 waving their arms. Boat broke down. So I tow them about 6 miles in the other direction than I'm going. By the time we get there it's dark. And we start back haven't gone 2 miles when it started thundering and lightening, but I was glad those little kids weren't out in it.
By the way that bad weather didn't bother the guys fishing a local night tournment. I hauled my big arse back to my dock so I could fish another day.

Good job! Don't know what the laws are up there, it may even be federal, but you are required to help another boater in distress.

Definently check! I know down here also most of us offshore would not think twice to run over 20 miles + if we can get on scene of someone in serious distress, depending on where we are (100 + miles from US coastline).

Aready checking. These people said several boats had stopped and said they short on gas or the boat was to big for them to tow. Some one could have aleast pulled them to a dock or something.

good to help others . you would think by now the state or some one would would have emergency tow for all lakes by now, with there numbers at all launch sites. I know in the bay or off shore they have sea tow,but most of the rivers and lakes i never see any numbers (just a thought)

About 3 years ago I ran into the same type scene on lower wheeler, right at dusk a group of 5 or so kids on a party boat stranded against some rocks, out of gas.
After they successfully flagged me down, for a second they didn't think me and my small boat could actually be of help. But, I gave them half my gas and that did get them back to the ramp. I don't think I would have wanted to tow them.

I have a set of jumper cables in my boat, just in case ya know. Well, last summer I noticed some pleasure boaters in distress. Yea, you guessed it, they couldnt get their motor to crank, bad battery. Luckily for them, I had jumper cables with me.

I did a good deed today myself. I saw that the 6 or 7 tomatos that I'd picked the other day were getting too ripe, so I peeled them, diced them, and started to cook them just a bit planning to freeze them. That's when I noticed the jalopenios, seranos, and cayanne peppers that were getting red. I certainly couldn't risk someone accedently eating them as they were. They'd likely burn themselves. So I cut them and threw them in the tomatos with some onions, hoping that would make them less likely to burn someone. I let em cook a couple minutes and risked sacraficing myself by tasting them. They were still dangerous, but I servived. I continued adding cilantro and other ingreidents, but still they were too dangerous to risk someone else eating them. That's when I thought about fighting fire with fire and added some crushed red peppers and dried hablinaro. No luck. It just got worse. I sat it in the fridge for a few hours hoping the cold would put cool this fire off. It didn't work. So I did what I had to do to protect others. I grabbed the chips and polished the mixture off.
I have survived so far, but I fear the worse will come later. If you hear of any explosions in NC, you'll know I lit a smoke at the wrong time.

hehehe... that was some of them sneeky peppers. You think it aint that hot till you slow down eating it, then it sneeks up on ya and the only relief is to cram more in your mouth. I know there's hotter stuff out there, but I can't understand why or how anybody could eat it. I am not going to be happy with myself in a few hours, and those around me aint gonna stay long.
