Default First Snakehead

Huge Northern Snakehead. Out of the Mattawomen Creek off the Potomac River. 26 inches and I would guess about 9 pounds or so. Flipping a beaver in the pads. Light pick up and them it came bursting out of the pads and into the air after the hook set. One of the best flipping catches ever for me. Lots of fun. Was going to take it home and eat it. Didn't though, disemboweled it and kept fishing.

The snake scale pattern is very similar to a boa. They are a good looking fish except for the face. Man they have ugly faces.
