Shimano Callisto or Shaw Grigsby Series Baitcasters?
Yes, the tackle monkey is going to win one last time before the snow arrives. I'm debaiting because I want to jump into the Shimano world. Even though this reel is entry-level, I have a couple of entry-level Quantums and want to try something different. But the Shaw Grigsby reel is nice and it has 6 bearings compaired to 2 for the Shimano. Obviously there's a big price difference, but I wanted to get some opinions and thoughts.

I wasn't a huge fan of the new Citica, so I wouldn't recommend a Shimano cheaper than that... I've never used a quantum reel, so I can't help you there either.
But in the $50 price range, here would be my first pick. Daiwa Strikeforce H I've used a couple lower end Daiwa, and I think they make the best reels in the lower price ranges (and the upper ones for that matter, lol) BB
