get yer mind out of the gutter pervs lol
nope talking about my rod tip selection. If you know me, I fish only baitcasters only with MH rods. The thing is these bass lakes around here are also well stocked with walleye to. Every now n then while you're cranking for smallies or LM ya get a walleye, and some days when the bass bite is slow I'm starting to think about wallies and Denny is too, now that we've camped out for days at brookville and caught and ate walleyes. Last year I broke down and got a cheapie, and I mean cheap spinning rod n reel. Denny called last night after a good evening of drinkin brews and asked if I wanted to hit Dicks and Gander mountian over at Huber heights, like a half hour ride. We usually hit these store in feb to feed the bait monkey. After last year of fishing the salt water in the gulf, I used my brother in laws boat and he carried six shimano sahara's on diawa sticks, and in the past I hated most spinning gear, but fell in luv with his sticks. Went over to gander and got a new shimano spinning sahara, then over to dicks and found a nice Medium Diawa seven footer stick, just now got some 12 lb low vis line on it and a bandit blue gill 100, good to go! I carry so many baitcasters that when i DO bring a spinning outfit I dont ever reach for it, but figured if I'm going to get back into bring meat back home , why not walleyes or even put 6lb test for some crappie. Bad thing is Denny won't slow down nuff for crappie fishing, but has caught some NICE walleyes at Templeton creek feeding into brookville. The stick looks great all set up, I usually buy only high end shimano or quantum baitcasters, but on this deal I'm not going to get to hung up on a less expensive stick(bout hundred dollahs). It will also come in handy on those light rapalas i throw with my baitcasters. Hope to post some pics with this lighter gear, I used some lighter gear at kentucky lake last year and the day of the big bass tourney was fishing a lite bait caster with 10 lb test on med rod, I'm thinking its going to come in handy on finicky bass . Normally I used 30 lb braid or 12-20 lb trilene low vis. plus a med action with a soft tip is perfect for just using on cranking, and as woody can testify to, i DO like to crank LOL wish me luck with the new stick! |
