Default Milestone weekend

It was a milestone weekend for me.
I celebrated my 65th B'day.

Caught a small Musky on one of my knotless leaders.

Then kicked Bass with the same 6 inch Castaic soft swimbait!

I was all great but I was most pleased to be catching fish consistently on the 6 inch swimbaits, I think I have finally figured them out.

Congrats on both the birthday and the fish. Great pics too, glad you shared them.

In the top pic, why are you holding a dog turd in your hand? lol.

Thanks Guys.
That's no dog turd, that a fine American cigar, a Phillies Blunt in chocolate flavour...
Although they are legal up here, Castro can keep his cigars!
These may not be classy, but they taste great!

Happy 65th. When it comes to fishin, you da man! Lookin forward to gettin together with you on the 5th for some bass fishin. I'll bring my new spinning rig but you've completely spoiled me, now I don't want to use nothin but a baitcaster.

Looks like a good birthday man! Nice fish too!

So a knotless leader eh? Hollow braid or some thing else? Do tell!

For those who are interested, you can fined the whole 411 on knotless leaders in the Blog section.

The details on this rig were as follows;
7'2" St.Croix Musky rod. Sixty pound hollow core Jerry Brown Spectra running line, with a fifty pound mono, into eighty pound braid leader. The loop end of the 20 foot leader was joined to the running line via a simple loop-to-loop connection. There are no knots except for the tiny square knot where the two loops join. About half of the leader is braid and the rest either fluoro or mono. I used mono for the swimbait to help keep it up, heavy fluoro sinks as fast as wire! I can wind the leader onto the reel so using 15 and 20 foot leaders just lets me get the bait farther from the braid.
The specs. on most Swimbait rods pretty well match lighter Musky rods...Since I live where there are lots of Musky, I already own some Musky rods.
