Default Smallmouth action on the river

Before I caught these two beauties, I caught a pike that was probably about 10 pounds. Oddly enough though I caught him on the Slurpee worm I had wacky rigged. He shook off though as I was fumbling for my camera.
I broke a pole too. Nothing special, a berkley cherrywood. My first cast went right into a tree and what I thought would be a simple retrieval turned into a mess. But now I have a reason to go add another pole to the 9474854 poles I already have. haha

Nice smallies, I miss them since moving down south. It looks like you are using the secret river bait, a swim jig with a grub.

Oh! I am so jealous! No smallies here, and never got one when I was up north. I always wanted to get one. They are one of my dream fish.

Great shots, and beautiful fish!

Nice smallies. All the ones I catch are a lot smaller. I fish the Mon River south of Pittsburgh.

I caught them on these. For large or smallmouth these two lures haven't failed me. That spinnerbait is one of those 99 cent deals from walmart with a garlic scented chomper added to it.

I got three of those .99 deals from Wal-Mart. I have not hooked into anything yet with one, but I have had a few slaps. I have trailer hooks on mine, can I add a plastic trailer to one of the hooks, or do I have to take the trailer hook off to get the plastics on?

I would take the trailer hook off and then add a plastic grub or whatever and then put the trailer hook back on. That might allow for the trailer hook to have a more freely swingng action.

Very nice smallies! Its amazing.....pike will eat anything. I caught an 9 pounder on a 4" dinger early this spring and my son caught the largest pike I've seen in souther MI (maxed out our 15lb scale) on a 4" senko last fall....you just never know with those toothy critters.
