Albert, a friend from my hometown, reached my place around 8:30AM Saturday morning. It was opening Day for Bass in our area.
Because heavy rain arrived at almost the same time, we opted to drink coffee and catch-up until it let-up a little. In the end we didn't launch until about 10AM. No problem, the fish were still in the lake and they were still biting. We tried Flukes and Senko type worms in sparse weeds, but the HOT bite was in heavy weeds, where we threw Yum type plastic toads/frogs. We fished for 5 hours and caught 20+ Bass. There were a few insane Dinks, but on these bigger baits, most of the hook-ups were around 2 pounds. Albert got a nice one of almost 4 pounds. ![]() The best was over 7 pounds!!! ![]() She posed with both of us...grin. ![]() We also got an incidental Musky on the toad. ![]() All were released to fight again. ![]() My frog was a Watermelon green with a white belly, Albert used a Tan over yellow. _________________ Garry2R's Fishing is my favourite form of loafing |

Looks like a great day! Nice bass, and the musky is a great bonus. I can hardly catch them when I try.

For a second there I thought you caught a 20 lb. bass. My eyes are blurry from starring at this screen for 6 hrs. Nice fish.

Yes, I'm back in Canada for the Summer. The area I live in is all lakes surrounded by red granite, Cedars, Pines and White Birch. Very picturesque...
![]() The area is called the Kawarthas and there are Musky in most of the lakes. This musky took the toad off the surface as it was crossing that area of long "grass." I was using 20# mono with the toad and was glad to have heavy line on when the toothy critter hit. My Bass weighed between 7.2 to 7.4 on the digital scale. The only problem was that after that everything else looked too small to photograph...hahaha. Garry2R's |

Don't ever forget how blessed you are to be able to fish in a place like that. We talked about this thread on chat last night actually, the pictures are some of the best Ive seen on here in a while.

Gary, your pictures make me kind of sick, but in a good way. They make me despair of ever getting to fish a place as beautiful as that. Final word is ...wow.
