![]() ![]() Biggest of the year! ![]() ![]() I thought I was going to get skunked big time. I tried everything from lipless cranks, and swimbaits, to spinners. I didn't even get a tap. Then my GF said, use a worm. I have been avoiding worms for weeks now. My preference has been for swimbaits mostly, jerks, and lipless cranks. Bit I did't what she said and within two or three casts I got the biggest bass of the year, and on the very next cast I hooked up on another very nice one. Carla got her first one since June 4th. She has hooked up on a few, but this is the first one she managed to land. Now, for you egg heads. The big one was 15 inches from nose to tip of tail. I have a ruler on my utility boxes. Can anyone tell me what they think it weighs? It was very heavy, my guess was 4 1/2 - 5#. But I want to see what you guys think.

i think oyu are close john, but i am gonna say at 15 inches, it weighed around 3-3.75. not wanting to doubt oyu buddy. but even as fat as it is 4 or more would be pushing it i think. nice fish though. better than me man. good job.

My guess would have to be 2-12 to 3-0 for weight... I just have a hard time believing that a 15 incher weighs more than 3 pounds. Regardless, nice fish!

I just took a look at my utility boxes. The ruler on them is 9 inches, so i had to do the measurement end to end. There is a two inch gap between the rulers and I didn't take that into account. That would make her 17 inches. Dom't know that it makes a huge difference, but thought it was worth mentioning.

Congrats on the fish! Very nice!
There is a jump from 15 -17 inches, but not too much. It also depends on the fishes anatomy. I've caught 17 inchers that weigh nearly four pounds, but I've also caught ones that won't weigh three. My guess would be somewhere around 3 - 3 1/2. It looks to be a healthy fish! |
