| BassFishin.Com Active Member | Old troller croaked.....thrust minimum???

I have an old '90 19 foot Ranger that had a 108 lb thrust 36 volt monster on it. Monster died. I don't think I need that much thrust, I seldom fish on large bodies of water where the waves and wind are huge issues. I am looking at 80 lb thrust 24v models by both Minnkota and Motorguide......I also see some that are 24 volt with only 60-70 lb thrust. Would I regret getting less than 80 lb. for my size and style boat?? Has anybody had great luck or terrible luck with any of the previously mentioned style trollers??

IMHO always get more than you think you'll ever need. You save on batteries when you're only running the motor on the minimum setting you can get away with. I think 80 would be fine for a 19' boat. |

80-82# thrust is fine i think. I want to upgrade mine (56#) to an 82#. I would go witht he 100 plus but don't need the extra expense of another battery. and my rig is a 20'-6" glass cajun. very heavy boat.
