Can anyone tell me what kind of geese these are?
Or maybe they aren't geese?
Wondering about the two brownish/reddish ones in the lower right of the picture. My dad sent me this picture taken at a small lake in northern Iowa. If you know what kind of geese/birds they are, please let me know. Thanks! |

They have the same face markings as those canadian geese in the background. I have never seen any that color though.

I am wondering if they are a cross breed of some sort? Take a close look at the goose in the picture front left. It has the same color type markings as a Canadian, but has a tuffted head and orange legs and feet.

Don't know, but it doesn't resemble any wild North American goose.

Yeah, good point. I was so focused on the other two that I didn't even notice the orange legs on the one in the front left of the picture. They have the look of Canada geese, but I've never seen that color before.

Looks like the Canada Geese as far as pattern goes. I'd say they were albino. With the lack of dark pigments, albinos often have orange or light orange/brown areas where browns and dark browns should be.

might be a cross between a Canadian and a Snow Goose, they seem to travel in the same flocks allot.

it is no doubt a cross between a Domesticated american buff or other tasseled drake of some sort and a wild canadian hen. The hen raised the little ones and they are living the life of a wild goose. And i would bet my last dollar that the three are all nest siblings. I have another addiction besides bass fishing and it involves birds

mmmmmmmmmmmmm taste like chicken, hahahahahahaha.
imgood........very nice roosters buddy fo sho. question now ok? these ain't fighting roosters are they? don't look like fighting roosters to me. i like roosters and hens, would love to have a few but they make too much noise when i want to sleep in and we have so MANY cyotes around here too. wild dogs too. they wouldn't last a day where i am pal. besides, my smoker would get the ones the coyotes and dogs wouldn't get, hahaha. love the colors on yours though for real.

Most likely Smitty is correct. I've seen several, and have shot a couple that were mixed with farm geese. The "tuft" on the head is a giveaway. |
