Arizona Congresswoman Shot
She is still alive as far as they are reporting, hope she hangs on. 19 others shot. 5 dead. A terrible day for America.
Unfortunately, we are probably a few hours from this also becoming political, and I really fear that. The lady was meeting with her constituents in a very direct and accsesible manner. Some insane person has committed an unspeakable act, but it will be used for some to tag a political persuasion.

A real shame. We don't want this becoming some sort of Reichstag moment.

What I found the most enlightening was how the daily kos has totally scrubbed a thread from a couple of days ago about Congressman Giffords now being "Dead to Me" from one of their bloggers. After speculating that it must have been a Tea Partier....
Sigh....

Such a tragedy. And yes, I can see this somehow being blamed on the Tea Party or Sarah Palin by those who want to use it to benefit from the tragedy. That would be disgusting as well. I hear the cries against gun ownership, far right wing tea baggers and all that kind of BS.

This guy was a Tea Partier like John Hinckley was a Democrat. Just another lunatic.

Yea, trying to pin down the tea party is a sad point.
That is why all the people in the tea party have to be very careful. If you see anybody so crazy as this, if people joke about it, you need to make it clear that there is no place in America for something like this. It looks like the guy was insane. His youtube site references such divergent books as communist manifesto, mein kamp, we the living, the republic, and other stuff. It doesnt look like a tea party reading list, and he burns an american flag in one of his videos. It is not consistent, and almost certainly this guy was a loon or trying to set up an insanity defense.

I don't know about you guys....but I need to go fishing.
On the positive side...it looks like she might pull through. Not too many people can be said to have survived a point bank range shot to the head. Very lucky.

I have nothing to add. You guys already summed up my fears when I heard of it. This will be twisted and contorted I am sure.
I am on bended knees with prayers to those touched by this tragedy. |

Are there sources where it states he was a Tea Party member? I have read a few articles on him and can't find anything.
I did find where he claimed he was ex-military, but that was refuted by the Army shortly after. |

As of now, it appears he was just insane. Some talk has been that he was actually left wing and pissed that she voted against pelosi being minority speaker.
I have no wish of tagging the left with this idiot either.

Doubt it.
I would like to see someone set this coward on fire and put that on youtube.

My wife forwarded me an email that she got from U.S. Capital Police telling about what happened. Because she works for a Congressman, it scares the hell out of me. I have only been around the Congressman one time when I got a little nervous about a person that wanted to speak with the him. He had 5 knives that we could see that were strapped on to him. A local police officer was nearby and was brought over by someone else who was concerned. The man said what he wanted to say, thanked the Congressman for his time, shook his hand and walked away. To be honest, what we could see didn't scare me. It was the possiblity of what was concealed that concerned me and the officer as we talked about the event afterwards.
By the way, I got this email as I was at a local tackle store listening to a great talk on better understanding sonar, side scan and gps! John Parks at Fisherman's Headquarters in Draffenville, KY did a great job today! I don't know it all, yet. But I know more than I did when I got there. I don't care about your polticial ideas! We should all pray for the families involved in this terrible day. |
