I have an older model foot control trolling motor that has the cable for turning. It's not one with the electric turn, if you know what I mean. Well, the problem is, it seems like it takes quite a bit of effort and pressure on the foot pad to turn it. I took the head off of it today and checked the gears and they look great, no rust at all. Is there a way to lube this thing to make it easier to turn? Or does anyone think the problem might be in the cable itself? This thing was manufactured in 1995.
I tried taking the shaft out today with no luck, it looks as if the ring that holds the shaft in place is machine pressed in somehow. |
