Default Found a good smallie book, I wanna share some info!

Hey guys, just wanted to shore some info I've found in a great book called "River Smallmouth Fishing" by Tim Holschalg. This thing is like a text book for smallies, I can't really say how great it is yet though, cause I've yet to try the info in it out. But in the mean time, I'd like to share some of the more interesting information in their. Tell me what y'all think.

First and foremost, I wanna talk about something he calles, Top down, bottom up fishing.

Starts by spending half the day wading up steam casting a topwater bait of some kind to likely targets like laydowns, riffles, and calmer spots, targeting active fish. Pay special attention to where you caught the active fish. Wade back down steam by using a jig using the "crawfish hop."

Holschalg argues that hopping a light jig (small worm, bass jig, hair jig, ect.) along the rocks with short pauses in between. Makes the bass think of a fleeing crawdad and the can't help but bite (that's not to say if theirs a fish their it will for sure catch it, that's not just bass fishing). According to him, the shape of the bait, and color are not as important as action most days.

In the fall he really like a technique he calls the "minnow swing." Cast upstream to likely fall spots (something he discusses in depth in the book), with a lightly weighted fluke, twitch it along without reeling, and let the current drift it back to the log or what ever you cast to. If theirs a fish their, you've got a good chance of hooking up.

Anyway, tell me wucha think, here's a link to his site if anyone is interested.

He has quite a bit right as far as I'm concerned what with it being more of a reaction strike as opposed to a see it and study it kind of bite.
