I finally was able to take the boat out for just fishing this afternoon (2 hrs). First of all, I really need to get a good depth/fish finder so I don't get stuck in some shallow areas. It happened twice today. Nothing too serious or difficult to get out of. I was going 1 speed on a 27 Minn Kota so I didn't get stuck too bad. Also need to trim up the outboard when using the trolling motor. That helps getting unstuck.
But anyways, here are the two that I caught. I love landing them in the boat. I feel so professional when doing it. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Fishnngolfn; 04-03-11 at 09:07 AM. |

Congrats on the first fish from your new boat, f&g -- that is awesome!
P.S. - The background in the second one looks like you're fishing in chocolate pudding... :-) |

Yeah. The water level is fluctuating a lot down here on the river. I was back in an area called Swift Creek. It is far enough off the main river so there is very little current, but it does get muddy during the rainy season. A friend of mine told me that the river and all the side areas will get pretty visible (at least down to 6 feet) during the summer months. I hope so. I don't like fishing in too muddy water. But it won't spoil my fun though.
