Default Tennessee/Kentucky Fishing

I'm looking to take a fishin trip this summer to somewhere sound of Ohio; Tennessee or Kentucky per-say. I was just curious as to where some decent spots are (fairly accessible by foot) to go in these states? Looking to either land some large mouth or do some fly fishing. Thanks!

Cumberland River below Wolf Creek Dam is a great place to get into some trout and smallie with the fly rod or throwin a rooster tail. Elkhorn Creek over near Frankfort is good, and there is a place in twon there to rent a canoe for the day if you want. Another great idea is go to Mammoth Cave national park and rent a canoe. Bring along the wire leaders as the Muskie fishing is just as good as the Largemouth in this part of the Green River. Kentucy is a great place to fish. Our money goes to good use with the KDFWR... they really do a great job making sure the fishing and hunting in this state is top notch.

Just be warned that some of our lakes are as high as 30ft over summer pool and teh rivers are all flooded. So it may be mid June before bank fishing these rivers becomes possible... you may wanna look farther south into TN if you plan on going early summer. I hear there is a lot of good fly fishing for smallies in the Smokeys...

Farther south to escape the flooded water may be Alabama, the Corps of Engineers has been rolling the water from up walkers way so that tailwater below Old Hickory will be 30-40 foot higher than the water at the head of Cheatham. Seriously though, I would look into Tip-a-Canoe, on the Harpeth River, or Pinewood Canoe and Camp on the Piney River. Both of these places offer good smallmouth and trout as well as a decent opportunity for largemouth. Also as Walker said you could go to east TN and get into some of those mountain streams.
