Re: dose it relly work
Yes it works. In fact, the first time I ever threw a bubble gum soft plastic, a three-pounder smashed it the second it hit the water. But then, every soft plastic color will work.

Yep. Danny Joe Humprhies won the very first B.A.S.S. Federation National Championship on a Bubble Gum worm rigged "Wacky" style, back about 1987? 1988? Danny Joe is given credit for "inventing" the "Wacky" rig.

A pink trickworm rigged as a floating worm is tough to beat.

Re: dose it relly work
I don't believe color makes a difference that often. Yes, there are times for some reason or another fish will key into one color more than another, but I believe those times are few and far between. I think there are other considerations far more important, such as fishing in the right place, and finding a lure with the right action for the mood of the fish. The biggest advantage bubblegum or any bright color would offer is to the fisherman if you are in a sight fishing situation. Otherwise, I don't think under normal situations there is a distinct advantage fishing bubblegum vs black or any other color or vice versa.

Re: dose it relly work
i disagree jeff, in murky/stained/muddy water i go with dark and sour baits ex: black, red shad with salt. clear water: natural colors like bubblegum or white witha sweet scent. i like this color sheme cause it seems natural to the bass

Have you ever seen a spinnerbait in nature? Have you ever seen a Frog with skirt legs? Doesn't neccessarily have to be natural to be effective. One of the strong fishing minds here put it to me this way. Fish see in shades, from black to white, and anything in between. So a pink/bubblegum color is a very light shade to them, not PINK. Just like blue is a dark shade to them. jeff_in_roch, good to see ya, haven't seen ya around for awhile. I do have to disagree in the colors don't make a difference. The difference may not be as big as some want to believe but I do think colors matter. I've fished next to folks using the same baits(Slugo's) and techniques with different colors. They were catching them and I wasn't :P I switched to the color they were using(Green Pumpkin with Brown flecks) and immediatley started catching some fish( I was using a Alewife color). Of course it could've been Karma or Magic, but I believe it was the color change. This is of course my opinion, which in the case looks like we are gonna have to agree to disagree 8) Lizards |

Re: dose it relly work
Hi Lizards, I haven't posted in a while-I read the board on breaks at work, but don't post from there-and have been too busy to get much time on the computer at home. Like I said in my post-there are times when for whatever reason one color certainly outproduces another-I have seen evidence of that. Just that the majority of the time I think it doesn't make a huge difference. I know with all the choices in fishing-where to fish, what lure to use, how to present that lure, what size to use, etc-color is the last variable I consider. That certainly doesn't make me right, just my opinion.

Re: dose it relly work
Yes, I like the Bubble Gum in soft jerkbaits and senkos too. My best fish on a floating worm is a 6#er on a bubble gum/yellow Gambler. It sounded like a bomb going off when he hit it ;D

Re: dose it relly work
Not alot of people throw bubble gum color,so that
could be an advantage for you to show the fish something diff. than what the guy infront of you is throwing..could be the winning ticket.......... Denny |
