After loosing the battle with a big fish and getting my 80lb braid busted a couple nights ago, I decided to hit the same spot on the Kansas River to try to redeem myself. After 3 SLOW hours of nothing but a softshell turtle, I decided to pack up and walk another 100 yards downriver to fish the backend of an eddy with a big logjam in it. I thought for sure I could at least catch a small flathead from the logjam since I had a few 4-6 carp and buffalo, but I put out a couple rods with cut carp also just in case a blue swam by. Not really anything more than a couple light taps and I was about to pack it in when one of my rods started to slowly bend towards the river. I jumped up and hammered the hook home and dug in for a good fight since it had hit my smallest rod that only had 30lb big game. After about 5 minutes I drug a healthy 20 pound blue onto the sand. Not the fish that broke me off a couple days ago but a great fish to get before work!
