Default Progress on our new house

Well we broke ground on the new house a few weeks back. Digging the basement took a while because of how rocky our ground is, but we got the wheels of progress turning now.

The morning we broke ground.

Lake hanging out in the basement.

A few pictures of Lake and my grandpa watching them pour the footing today.

Lake playing in the dirt.

Lake taking a break from playing LOL.

So far it was worth the cost of the house alone just to see how much fun Lake is having with it. He is all boy and loves dirt, trucks, tractors, and everything else that comes with construction. We played in the dirt today for 3 solid hours LOL.

Rather than starting more threads about the house being built, I will most likely just keep adding progress pictures to this thread as we move along.

That's exciting! It's going to be a cool experience for Lake, when he gets older he'll remember "helping" build your house. I've enjoyed seeing the progress pics so far and look forward to seeing them as the house goes up, keep them coming!

Glad to hear progress is being made though! Hop everything goes smoothly and just as planned!

Congratulations, Kory. This is one of those things everyone should get to do at least once in their life. Building your own place the way you want it is just different than buying someone else' used house.

Yeah we are pretty excited. I was always affraid of the stress that comes with going to store after store picking out the perfect tile, hardwoods, ceiling fans, counter tops, ect. but so far it's been a lot of fun. Luckily Britney and I both like the same stuff so we haven't ran into any problems there yet. Of course if we do I will just let her pick out whatever she wants because we already agreed that the basement is mine to do with what I please, and as long as I can pick out what goes into the basement I am happy. We are hoping to start moving in at the first part of May.

Holy crap, really? 4 months? Who do you have working on the house, the crew from Extreme Makeover? I remember when my parents built their house, it took maybe 9-10 months.

The contractor told us in the begining that he tells everyone 6 months. He said "it won't take 6 months though, I just tell everyone that to be safe. That way when you move in in 3 or 4 months I am a hero".

Well it's been a little while since I updated this thread about our new house being built. As you can see we have come a long ways.

Basement walls poured.

Basement floor poured.

Floor joists going down on the main floor.

Getting her framed up. This is the view from the backyard. You can see where the overhead door is for the Tritons room. It will be nice to just be able to go down stairs to work on organizing tackle and stuff like that.

They still have to do some more dirt work for the driveway into the boats room. It needs to be wider but anyways this is the view out the door from where the boat will be kept.

The front of the house.

Just a picture I took from inside the madness.

Here are a few pictures of where we are at now:

Front of the house

Back of house

We still have a ways to go but I am really happy with the progress so far. We have all of our tile and hardwoods picked out. Earlier this week we went to our cabinet builders and picked out our cabinets which was not easy LOL. We have our shingles picked out as well as our vinyl siding. We still are having trouble picking out our brick color but we are getting close there I think. We just told our contractor what bathroom faucets we want and we are meeting with the electrician Monday to let him know where we want our light fixtures, and the we are off to pick our our granite counter tops.

That is so cool, Kory! I love that the Triton has it's own bedroom!
I wish I lived nearby buddy (gonna be at least a decade too late). I'd save ya some money and help you with the siding and tile

Don't worry Mike, by the time you get here I am sure Britney will be ready to re-do the tile so you will have some work waiting for you LOL.
