It started with a simple eye wear prescription update (three years overdue...) and the fact that there hasn't been enough ice to fish. Cabin fever made me grab my son's fly tying kit to make some bass flies and $300 later I'm up to my eyeballs in deer hair, chenille, brass eyes, feathers, and you name it. In the last week, I've tied up a few BLTs (Brown Little Turds - a creation of a friend of mine and a real smallmouth producing fly here in the Finger Lakes), Clousers, Double Bunny Strip flies, and more.
![]() ![]() I'm just hoping I get more proficient at fly casting this year and that these suckers will catch some bass! Heck, my son and I even put together a fly tying bench using an old stainless steel medical roll cart...
