				 | Pig Sooie State Record Largemouth

Woo Pig Sooie.... This is a pig.... Wired2Fish... Just shy of 36 years. That's how long the Arkansas state record for largemouth bass has stood. Until yesterday. Paul Crowder of Forrest City, Ark., has caught what is now the state record largemouth on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012. Crowder was said to be fishing for catfish all day without any luck on Lake Dunn, near Wynne, Ark. He cast a 6-inch Mann's Jelly Worm out on a Texas rig with 14-pound Trilene and set his rod down. Next thing he knows, the rod is going out of the boat. He grabbed it, fought the bass for a bit and lipped it. The fish was 16.5 pounds, measured 26.5 inches long and 22.75 inches in girth. For full details on Crowder's catch and more pictures of the fish, visit ArkansasMatters.com. |

Nah the rumors of the Roosters demise have been exagerated. Just axe Joe or Mike or the Other Joe or John or Sam and them

What a sow! Someone needs to invite that guy to join us here in the forums. Would be cool to hear first hand what catching that big pig was like. It's nice to see someone who obviously is a fisherman catch a state record. If I remember right, Indianas state record bass was caught by a gal who never fished a day in her life. Was visiting family and was handed a rod to cast into the familys private pond. I don't even think she lived in Indiana. And no Daniel, thats not Sean Penn. It's Tony Larussa, the Cardinals old coach. I bet Kory will verify that. lol

The Official Rooster is alive, well, and cocky as ever! How often do any of us imagine catching a new state record? I do it even more than I imagine winning the Lotto lol. At this age (43), I can't imagine a better feeling in the world, than what that guy is feeling. Unbelievable.

Boy would that be exciting. I caught the fish in my avatar <----- when I first started bass fishing 3 yrs ago and I almost lost it at shore when my line broke and darn near jumped in the water to make sure id get it. I didnt have a scale at the time and didnt measure it either. I have no clue what that fish weighed and probably not as big as I think, but boy do i wish I knew. Thats a beautiful fish. |

What would keep someone from raising a fish at there house in a small pond or something, catching it and claiming a record? I was reading about a dude from japan catching a record fish and he had to undergo lie detector test! I was like dam they dont play around with world records! |

Nice fish, hope he registerd with Gamagatsu and used one of their hooks. He could be eligible for a cash reward for catching a state record if he did.

pretty sure he was just a catfisherman that wasn't getting bit so he decided to try and catch a bass..says he made a cast and sat his rod down only to see it almost fall outta the boat..the ag&f commission said they are gonna run tests to see what strain it is..so I'm assuming it was either already dead or died later..unless they can get samples to test and then release the fish..not sure how that part works

Yeah I think when we were talking about the Pickwick Bass we had a discussion on whether it has to be dead to test, in that case the dorsal fin. I dont know if theyll do that or blood on this one.... I think we came to the conclusion it would have to die to test.

I get it, record fish then are pretty much just rare freaks of nature, probably a ton of contributing factors all come together to produce a pig like that. I wish I remembered the site that sells really big bass for people to stock their ponds and lakes. The prices of the LMB's were crazy, I think a 10lber was like $1200 or something. | |
