Gunman/hostage situation today. Crazy

No one who lives here ever expected to wake up today and see this play out in my town of Valparaiso, Indiana. You may have seen this play out on tv on the news as it went nation wide. But at approx 10AM, a man entered the Prudential building apparently to collect money owed to him from someone and ended up taking the building hostage at gunpoint. A 7 hour hostage scene ended at 5PM when the swat team entered the building and the gunman shot himself in the head. No hostages were injured and they had all been released a couple hours earlier.
No one ever thinks that "that will happen here", but it can and often it does. I just can't imagine what those hours were like for the hostages and their families. I just think, what if my wife had been in that building. Or my neighbor, or anyone else I care deeply about. I just thank God no one was hurt other than the gunman who is dead. But when something like this happens this close to home it certainly causes one to reflect on things and realize how precious a gift it is to wake up each morning, and to also realize we never know how our days will play out, and how they will end. Kiss and hug your loved ones before you leave home each day, and pray for their safety too. Because you just never know.

It can happen anywhere. I deal with those kinds of people everyday that just seem to have something missing that allows them to hurt or potentially hurt other people and feel no remorse in doing so. Sounds like the officers did a good job and thankfully nobody (other than the bad guy) were hurt.

The world is becoming a hell of a mess. I am glad that nobody was hurt besides the jackass that pulled the gun and threatened innocent people.
