Top 3 baits?

Hey I am jut curious what r y'alls top 3 fish catchers? Just the three baits that catch you the most fish! Thanks!

I'm sure you're aware that the type of day (rainy, clear, cold, sun overhead, etc), the amount of pressure the fish are under, water temp and clarity, so on and so forth plays a huge role in the bite for the day. However, throughout time I would have to say for me the following have produced the best:

1. Senkos (mainly watermelons and pumpkins)

2. Mini Strike King spinner bait with single colorado blade and blue/chartreuse skirt

3. Spro Dean Rojas Bronzeye Poppin' Frog (Black Widow)

Granted I've caught 'em on crankbaits, rooster tails and a multitude of things in between.

My top 3 changes from year to year it seems. A few years ago it would have been Senkos, t-rigged craws and flukes. Right now it would probably be sq bill cranks, jigs (football and swim) and flukes.

No way I can narrow it down to 3. Depending on the season, currant weather, and other variables, it changes. Right after ice out, the 3 lures I won't be without are a jig, hard bodied jerkbait, and a chatterbait. Right now, I have 8-9 rods rigged with various lures at all times. Each one for a specific job. But if I HAD to choose only 3 for right now, late spring/early summer, it would be a Rattlin Spook, spinnerbait, and some type of 4-5 inch creature bait. But I'm also going to have a couple crankbaits handy, a buzzbait, a popper, a...............

Being a realitivly inexperianced angler i would have to say after this weekend and tons of advice from bf forum members i would say 1. Wacky weightles senko 2. wacky weightless senko 3. wacky weightless senko.

At present;
1/4 oz finese jig (various trailers) also swim it if things dictate
Dingers (texas or wackey usually weightless)
popper...I walk them as much as pop them

...I'd really like to add a lipless if you'll let me...heck I'll just sneak it thru.

Next week it'll probably change.
I'm determined to get fluking in there somewhere.

#1 = Senko, catches fish anywhere and any time of the year
#2 = Spinnerbait, catches fish anywhere and any time of the year
#3 = Lipless crankbait, catches fish anywhere and any time of the year.

With those three baits I can catch fish all year in all kind of water. Seasonal or specific water I could change one or two for that specific time or place. But for all year long, any water those three will work.

I'm with Hoosier...Senko, Senko, and a Senko, except I also use a t-rig(you could throw in a Case Frog for topwater).

Both are pretty hard to go wrong with where I fish, they just happen to very color particular on these waters!

Smallmouth in mid-western mesotrophic lakes:

Lucky Craft Gunfish 95 (could also live with a Zara Puppy)
Dark colored 4" Power Bait grub on 1/4oz Brewer spider jighead
Lucky Craft Pointer 78 Ghost minnow color

I'd like to be allowed a 3/8oz SOB "mini-me" spinnerbait white/w. yellow glimmer in choppy conditions.

I gotta get up to Okoboji and chase some of those big smallies - I just don't know when? What's the best time of year to catch 'em shallow?

(Like many other's my answer would have been different a year ago, or even a month ago - but I've been killing them on a chatterbait and swim jig the last couple weeks.)

Define "shallow"...

I catch smallmouth (and often largemouth) from ice out till ice up in less than 15'; most often less than 8'.

If you do get this direction let's meet. If I can arrange my schedule I'd enjoy getting on the water with you.

Great minds think alike!!! If I had to take only 3 baits and knew nothing about the specific body of water, those would be my choices. As it is, I probably catch 50% on Senkos, 15% spinnerbait, 15% lipless crank and 20% on everything else.

Like many of you said, this list is up for editing as time goes by. So far this year, my list would look like this:
1) Jig
2) T-rigged creature
3) Finesse worm

The topwater bite has been hot here lately, so a buzzbait or a frog may be moving up the list in a hurry!

My buddy outfished me using a Banjo Minnow the other day. We had a bet going, "Banjo vs. Senko". Apparently, they have redesigned the Banjo minnow body, although it still has the same hook setup.
